This four-acre park is located in the northeastern part of Fond du Lac County, about two miles northeast of the Village of Mt. Calvary, along County Roads WH & G. The park is located on Wolf Lake, and includes a boat launch with parking, a sand beach with a designated swimming area, a picnic shelter and picnic facilities, playground equipment, and a pit toilet.
The sand beach at Wolf Lake County Park was reconstructed in the 1990s, some new playground equipment was installed, and the boat launch and fishing pier were reconstructed in the late 1980s.
Wolf Lake Channel Dredging Project
Work has begun to prepare the ice at Wolf Lake for a channel-dredging project scheduled for January or February of 2009, depending on the weather. The ice has been cleared of snow to allow the forecast cold weather to thicken the ice over the boat launch channel. With 20+ inches of ice, excavation equipment can be moved in to work from the ice for removal of several feet of muck from the bottom of the channel.
This boating facilities project is being funded from a $7,500 Recreational Boating Facilities Grant awarded to Fond du Lac County by the Wisconsin Waterways Commission in 2006. The Fond du Lac County Parks budget includes a $7,500 match for completion of this project. Radtke Contractors of Winneconne, WI will complete this project for the County.
As of Friday, January 23rd the ice depth in front of the boat landing measured between 16-18 inches. Ice must build to a range of 24-26 inches before the contractor can work off the ice to complete the dredging project.
