Both of the forensic pathologists employed by the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office are physicians (M.D.s), licensed in the state of Wisconsin and board certified by the American Board of Pathology (ABP). Being board certified by the ABP means that both pathologists have completed training in anatomic and forensic pathology, and have passed the board examinations given by the ABP to ensure competence in this field.
All of the death investigators employed by the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office are required to be certified by the American Board of Medico-legal Death Investigation (ABMDI). Being ABMDI-certified indicates that an investigator has been formally trained in death investigation and has met the standards of the ABMDI. The ABMDI is recognized and supported by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME).
