The state of Wisconsin requires each county to have a County Veterans Service Office. In the larger counties, the office is run by a County Veteran Service Officer (CVSO) who provides information and assistance in obtaining state and federal veterans benefits.
The office staff provide information and assistance to veterans, their dependents and family members concerning veteran's benefits and eligibility. Changes to legislation effects benefits and eligibility. Federal and state laws have changed which for the most part have resulted in increased benefits for veterans.
Some issues can be handled in a few minutes. Others take much longer. Although walk in traffic is accommodated as fast as possible, appointments are encouraged.
