The meeting was called to order by Finance, Taxation and Personnel Committee Chair Ottery at 5:00 P.M.
Mr. Buechel presented information on the radio interoperability project. A citizen recommended the County get an 800 megahertz trunking system, but according to the consultant, that is appropriate for 1,000-plus radios. Fond du Lac has fewer than 700. The cost would be $7-12 million as opposed to $3.5 million for the project as currently planned. Mr. Dornbrook explained that one of his consultants believed he hadn’t been given a fair chance to bid on aspects of the project. Ms. Chandler explained that the project was properly advertised in the newspaper of record. Mr. Buechel will meet with the citizen to address his concerns, including tower safety and the 800 megahertz system.
