Wisconsin Land+Water offers two unique summer conservation camps for middle and high school students in 2026, and thanks to expanded scholarship support, attending may cost little to nothing for eligible students. Open to students from across Wisconsin, these immersive camps provide hands-on outdoor experiences designed to foster a love of nature while exploring careers in natural resources and conservation.
A variety of scholarships are available to help families cover camp expenses. The Brad Matson Memorial Conservation Camp Scholarship, established in honor of Iron County Supervisor and WI Land+Water Board member Brad Matson, supports students across both middle school and high school camps. Additionally, many County Land and Water Conservation Departments and other organizations offer their own local scholarships for students in their county or area.
“Making our camps accessible through scholarships is incredibly important to the future of conservation,” said Kim Warkentin, Youth Education Director. “Every student should have the opportunity to explore the outdoors, meet conservation professionals, and discover a passion for protecting our natural resources.
Natural resource professionals lead engaging programs covering wildlife, habitat restoration, water quality, soils, forestry, and outdoor skills. Campers make new friends, participate in outdoor adventures, and gain valuable knowledge in a fun and supportive environment.
Both camps provide experiences learning about wildlife, water quality, forestry, and outdoor skills, while offering unforgettable summer adventures with new friends from across the state. Space is limited, so parents are encouraged to register early and explore scholarship opportunities at wisconsinlandwater.org/camps.
