Intoxicated Driver Program (IDP)
About the Program
The intoxicated Driver Program (IDP) is a state mandated program (DHS 62) designated to assist individuals convicted of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) regaining their driver’s license.
As part of the program, every individual convicted of an OWI is required to complete an IDP assessment. This assessment evaluates substance use to develop a personalized Driver's Safety Plan.
Based on the assessor findings, individuals may be required to complete educational programs or undergo further assessment for treatment. All recommendations are mandatory and must be completed within 12 months of the assessment date. Failure to meet these requirements will result in noncompliance, and your Driver's Safety Plan will be voided. In such cases, the assessment process to include the associated fees will need to be repeated.
Note: Fond du Lac County will not complete additional paperwork regarding your OWI for other States.
